A current issue that is big in Lawrence, Kansas is Haskell Indian
Nations University's struggles to keep their sweat lodges and
medicine wheel from being overrun by a trafficway that is proposed
to run on or very near these sacred sites.

First Nations Students, staff, and interested community members are working to
together to overcome the efforts of the City, County, and U.S.
Army Corp of Engineers.
