Holly Young asked for information on the use of gourds/calabashes. My
favorite work is _Gourds of the Southeastern Indians_, by Frank Speck,
published in 1941 by the New England Gourd Society. It should be
available through Inter-Library Loan, as it is not terribly rare. Speck
gives 26 different uses for gourds, and talks about the different uses
in different tribes. Lots of good drawings, too!
