In 1992 a sceptic suggested I start posting my predictions on
ca.earthquakes, where geologists did their business. I did just that and over
the past few months we have had a very interesting and successfull time.
A thought occured to me a few weeks ago. I have been subscribing on and off
to this mailing list for a couple years because of my intense interest in
Native American issues. Through this list I have read much and learned much
about what Native Americans "used to be", what they are now and where they
want to go. There are so many different tribes and opinions...very
inspiring...so....
Who among you knows if there is any oral or written history regarding
ancient elders or medicine men who had the ability to predict earthquakes?
What significance did earthquakes play in Indian life? Has it any
significance today? Does anyone have any unusual stories regarding past
earthquakes and effects on the tribe either spiritually or Allah forbid
financially.
I live in Pomo territory here in Mendocino County and also have 20 acres
near the Colville Reservation in Washington. The Pomos it seems, were very
intrigued by earthquakes. They felt that they were caused by eagles shaking
their feathers and it was a cause for celebration. I suspect not every tribe
shared this optomistic view of quakes....
All interested in sharing with me and others..please reply via this list or
