Native Veterans of WWII

Greetings all,
I am currently researching patriotism and military service among
Lumbee Indians during the second world war. At present my research consists
of a series of personal interviews with tribal members; however, I am in need
of a source for Indian involvement as a whole in order to make comparisons.
Are there any monographs availiable which dicuss Indians in the military
during World War II ?
One estimate I found suggested that 20,000 native people served during
the period from 1941 to 1945. I also located a list of native veterans who
received the congressional medal of honor.
If anyone can be of assistance I would greatly appreciate it.
