A bill was introduced in the Mississippi state legislature to institute
corporal punishment for certain crimes, such punishment to include beating, and
specifically "caning." When asked whether the sight of a white man beating a
black, or of a black man beating a white, wouldn't cause a dangerous rise in
racial tensions, one supporter of the bill, instead of suggesting something
like having blacks beat blacks and whites beat whites, said, "No problem;
we'll have all the beatings done by Native Americans."
If the announcer gave the name of the supporter, I didn't catch it.
Peace,
Tom
