human genome diversity project -- information source

I just got the posting from brett wilson seeking information about the HGD
Project. I just want to remind everyone that I'm a member (albeit usually
a quiet one) of Native-L, as well as the chair of the ethics subcommittee
of the North American Committee of that Project. I'd be happy to try to
answer any possible questions about the Project -- post to me directly at
hgreely@leland.stanford.edu.

Nothing much has happened lately with the Project in North America. We're
still doing planning and looking for money. We're also trying to
communicate more broadly about the Project and would be happy to try to
send people from the Project to talk with interested groups or at relevant
meetings. We have also established an affiliation of some kind with the
UNESCO International Bioethics Committee. Regional committees are being
formed in other parts of the world; as far as I know, only the European
Committee is doing any collecting at this point.

Please don't hesitate to post to me directly for further information, or to
consult the Native-L archives for earlier postings from me and others about
the Project.
