It appears to me that what we have in the mass induction of "The
Education of Little Tree" into the public schools of America, is really
nothing more than an attempt at assimilation of the alien by the
bourgeoisie. This same form of assimilation goes on in academic circles
every day under the guise of literary criticism. Perhaps it would be
wiser to identify and address the source of our public educators
intellectual failings if we are intent upon solving such problems.
