T H E A B O R I G I N A L R I G H T S C O A L I T I O N
(ARC)
is an ecumenical coalition of national churches, church bodies
and regional network groups working in solidarity with First
Nations. The Coalition seeks applicants with experience working
with churches nd in cross-cultural (preferably Aboriginal/non-
Aboriginal) contexts, for the positions of National Coordinator
and Communications Coordinator.

NATIONAL COORDINATOR
---------------------------

Responsibilities:
The National Coordinator is responsible for the coordination
and management of a national non-profit coalition dealing with
Aboriginal rights in Canada.
Working with the three partnership groups of the Coalition
(churches, network groups and Aboriginal representatives), the
National Coordinator monitors, analyses and assists the
Coalition's response to emerging Aboriginal justice issues,
applying political and spiritual implications of the issues to
the advocacy and education work of ARC. The National Coordinator
is responsible to the National Steering Committee.

Qualifications:
- Interest in and knowledge of Aboriginal rights
issues in Canada
- Strong analytical and conceptual skills, and the
ability to articulate these verbally and in writing
- Strong staff and coalition team building skills,
and the ability to facilitate participation of
all the partners in setting goals and objectives
- Ability to work in a self-directed and proactive
manner
- Experience in administration and management
- Bilingualism / Multilingualism an asset
- Ability to travel

Salary:
Starting at $42,912 per annum with benefits (Salary scales are
established according to the ecumenical coalition staff personnel
policy.)

Starting Date: April / May 1995
Office Location: Ottawa with the possibility of relocation

COMMUNICATIONS COORDINATOR
----------------------------------

Responsibilities:
The Communications Coordinator is responsible for editing and
producing the Aboriginal Rights Coalition's regular newsletter,
Solidarite, and other reports and publications as required by the
Coalition. The Communications Coordinator communicates with the
three partnership groups of ARC, monitoring emerging Aboriginal
rights issues and assisting in the Coalition's response. The
Communications Coordinator is responsible to the National
Steering Committee through the National Coordinator.

Qualifications:
- Interest in and knowledge of Aboriginal rights
issues in Canada
- Excellent communication and interpersonal
skills
- Writing and editing ability and experience
- Desk top publishing ability and experience
- Ability to work with secular and religious media
- Ability to communicate with and to both
church-based and Aboriginal constituencies
- Ability to work as part of a staff team
- Bilingualism / Multilingualism an asset

Salary:
Starting at $34,045 per annum with benefits (Salary scales are
established according to the ecumenical coalition staff personnel
policy).
