CHILE TODAY: A STUDY TOUR - SEPT. 7-21, 1995

Since the mid 1980s Chiles economic growth has been unparalleled by other
Latin American countries. This so called economic miracle has brought low
inflation, steady growth, and a host of foreign investors pouring hard
currency into Chile. However, the social and environmental costs are high.
The indigenous Mapuche population is being oppressed, and the gap between
rich and poor is widening.

Take part in Global Exchanges delegation to Chile and learn who is really
benefiting from their booming economy. Meet with NGOs, Church leaders,
and a human rights group. Visit an agricultural school, a factory, an
indigenous community, and a cooperative. You will also get a chance to tour
Santiago and travel in rural areas.
