while not directly related to the concerns of this list - the number of
AIDS cases is rapidly rising in Aboriginal populations - any help here
would be appreciated.

the house and senate sub-committees voted last week to rescind all funding
for HOPWA (housing Opportunities for people with AIDS) in Philadelphia,
this means 3.26 million dollars lost beginning July first. Roughly 150
people will lose the vouchers that currently py for their rent and there is
no other money to replace this funding. Please call the house members
listed below and ask them if they will vote for an amendment to restore
part or all funding for HOPWA 1995. Be very clear you are asking them to
give you a yes or no answer - will they vote for such an amendment. These
calls must be made by Friday March 10, as the amendment will be introduced
on Monday the 13th. In Philadelphia this funding could virtually close
BETAK and Calcutta House -- place crucial to the survival of people in the
end stages of this disease. Money will also be eliminated for CASSAH a
program providing rental assistance for people living with AIDS who also
have mental health issues. Please let your voice be heard!
