Gary Trujillo: Request to Post Position Description to Native-List
Si-Yo Gary: I have attached to this note a description advertizing
an opening for the position of Director, Northern Plains Tribal
Judicial Training Institute, University of North Dakota School of Law
in Grand Forks, North Dakota. We work with 18 Tribal Courts in North
Dakota, South Dakota, and Minnesota. We are responsible for providing
training workshops requested by the Courts, publication of a quarterly
newsletter, and production of a judges bench-book for these Tribal
Courts, among other tasks.

I am the current Director. I have, however, resigned this position
effective June 15 in order to return to Oklahoma where I will join the
faculty at the University of Tulsa School of Law. I am sending this
cover note so that you, and anyone else who is interested, will know
that I have nothing but the highest regard and praise for the
administration, faculty, and staff here at the UND School of Law.
They have gone out of their way to help in the implementation of this
project (along with several other programs they have developed/are
developing) in order to provide a useful service to the Tribes in this
area. Had I not received an "offer I couldn't refuse" from a school
where we could return to our home and be close to our old people while
they are still with us, I would not be leaving UND. Even so, it was a
difficult choice. It is unusual to find a school willing to put its
own time, resources (read $$$), and effort into Indian programs.

I encourage qualified persons to apply for this position.
Applications should go to the Dean as per the position announcement.
However, I would be glad to visit with anyone who would like more
information from me. Thanks.
