The Huron, alternatively the Wyandot, were orginally from southwestern
Onatrio, Canada. Their traditional territory covered an area from
just north of present day Toronto to Lake Simcoe and Nottawasaga Beach
ans westward to Lake Huron. They were allied with two tribes that
later became known as the Neutral and Petun Nations, also of
southwestern Ontario. Although they were Iroqouian, they were not
allied with the Iroqouis from New York state and indeed were known to
have quite a few battles with them. By 1642, the New York state
Iroquois had dispersed the Huron to the extreme southwestern part of
Ontario (around the Windsor-Detroit corridor). A small group lived in
the area arounf Leamington, Ontario unitl I believe the early 19th
century. A group has moved to to Oklahoma (the Wyandot's that you
refer to?). There are still some Huron's in Canada, albeit in
Lorettevile, Quebec.
Their is story is of course much longer than this but you should check
out the book: *Ethnography of the Huron Indians* by Elizabeth Tooker.
This will serve as a starting point but there were several really good
books by Dr. Bruce Trigger, McGill University, on the Huron's.
