> NATIVE BLOCKADE, VIOLENCE STALL WORK...
According to the April 27th edition of The Vancouver Sun, Mr. Boxrud has
been ordered by the Minister of Small Business, Tourism and Culture to
commission a heritage assessment of his property. Boxrud says he's
already had an archaeologist look at his land, and while he says he's
willing to allow the three Bands (Adams Lake, Little Shuswap, and
Neskonlith) to select an archaeologist to re-examine the property, he
refuses to pay for it, despite his legal obligation to do so. According
to the Bands, pithouses and burials are present on Indian Point, and
concern over the potential impact of these sites has given rise to the
blockade. The Ministry has ruled that the archaeological work must be
concluded by June 16.
Hope you find this information useful. I will pass on any further
developments.
