Residential Community Coordinator - AKWE:KON
Cornell University's Campus Life, along with the American Indian Program,
invites candidates for the position of Residential Community Coordinator
for AKWE:KON, a residential program house dedicated to intercultural
learning and exchange between Native American and non-Native students.
In this 12-month, live-in position, the person is responsible for primary
community and program development, administrative management, and
counseling for AKWE:KON. The RCC works closely with Faculty Fellows and
other University departments to promote and enhance the living-learning
experience. Additionally, the RCC serves as the Student Development
Specialist for the American Indian Program, and assists in providing
recruitment, leadership training, and academic counseling for Native
American students in the Cornell community.
QUALIFICATIONS: Bachelor's degree required, Master's in Student
Personnel/Higher Education, or closely related field preferred.
Experience in residential administration, community development and
supervision required. High-level visibility and commitment to student
interaction a must. Knowledge of financial services available to NY State
Native American students through the Native American Indian Education unit
within State Educational Department, the Bureau of Indian Affairs, and
other forms of financial aid desirable.
