The Smithsonian Institution's National Museum of the American Indian is
seeking an individual to serve as Photo Archives Specialist in New York.
The Photo Archives collection contains approximately 86,000 prints and
negatives focusing on the cultures of native peoples of the Western
Hemisphere. This person will be responsible for the archival storage,
documentation, conservation, and maintenance of the photo archives
collection. We are seeking a person experienced in archival techniques and
procedures, particularly pertaining to the archiving of photographic
materials in order to manage, direct, and computerize the operations of the
photography collection archival function and to serve the needs of
researchers. Candidates should possess a knowledge of Native American
history, art and culture.
This is a Federal position (GS 1001-11). Salary range is $37,039 to $48,149
