The Smithsonian Institution's National Museum of the American Indian is
seeking an individual to serve as Archivist in New York. This person will
be responsible for maintaining the museum's archival records of collections
acquisition and administrative matters and will coordinate research
regarding the history of the museum and its collection. We are seeking a
person experienced in the archival principles, procedures and techniques
covering appraisal, arrangement and description, and access and reference.
Persons must also have experience integrating the management of preservation
activities into overall archival management. Candidates are required to
possess 18 semester hours in U.S. history and/or in American political
science or government, and 12 semester hours in one or any combination of
the following: history, American civilization, economics, political
science, public administration, or government.

This is a Federal position (GS 1420-11). Salary range is $37,039 to $48,149
