Dear Susan O'Donnell,

The story published by the Kamloops Daily News and other media
organizations have used the terms "blockade" and "checkpoint"
interchangeably in reference to the situation at Adams Lake, BC. It is
important to distinguish the difference between these terms, and to
point out that it is, in fact, a checkpoint that has been erected on
Rawson Road, meaning that people are allowed to pass to and fro. In
this particular case, passage is permitted as long as building materials
are not being transported. However, this situation could change if Mr.
Boxrud continues to flagrantly disregard his obligations, and the
checkpoint could become a blockade where no one would be allowed to pass
through at all. This is the case in another area of BC, where the road
to the Douglas Lake Ranch has been blockaded by the Upper Nicola Band;
however, I'm not clear on the circumstances leading up to this recent
action taken by the Band. I will forward any details to you when I
learn of them.
