Tharon Paul Weighill is seeking information on the Chumash people of Santa
Barbara .... the Museum of Natural History, located next to the Santa
Barbara Mission, has a LOT of information on all of this ... almost
anyway.... since the spanish literally sucked their life's blood from them,
the music & dance is a little sketchy -- but their baskets were some of the
finest; the best being, of course, "stolen" and sent to Spain to become part
of the Malaspina collection (which I got to spend several hours with almost
20 years ago. The Oakland Museum had a lot on the S.B. Chumash at one time,
as did the S.F. Academy of Sciences. (Scholars are "allowed" to go and
study there, by the way.
