Dorothy Quintal and myself (Roger Humbke) look after a singing and dance
group consisting of 16+ 6 to 12 yr old kids. All the kids are Metis
(mixture of native & european blood lines) and are interested in keeping
alive music and dancing of the Metis. We perform in public, participate in
parades, teach in schools etc. Our outfits look somewhat like square
dancing outfits with Metis Sashes and black flat rim hats for the boys. The
main dances we do are: 1. Jigging
2. Rabbit Dance
3. Drops of Brandy
4. Cut Off Six
5. Cut a Figure Eight

We would like to share information with any individuals or groups out there
who have similiar interests. Specifically we desperately need at present

-printed fiddle music for the pieces "Red River Jig" & "Drops of Brandy"
Every Metis fiddler in Manitoba, Saskatchewan & Alberta knows the
Red River Jid & Drops of Brandy but we have yet to find one or a
music store that has seen the fiddle sheet music for the pieces.
The local University & book stores have not been able to help us.

-information & patterns of outfits for Metis Dancers.

-locations of festivals & competitions featuring Metis Dancing.

Thank you for your time.
