The Symbiosis Project

We are currently involved in a project called "Symbiosis" at Simon Fraser
University. Our goal to design a world-wide-web page on the forestry
industry in British Columbia. We hope to provide business, labour,
environmental and Native groups, and anyone else with a stake or an interest
in the industry with some background information on the history of forestry
in B.C., and the way in which the structure of ownership, the social and
political economy, and the clever use of the media has favoured big business
at the expense of sustainable development.

We also want to include some information on the ways in which the forestry
industry has effected Native land claims in British Columbia, and would
appreciate it if you would share any information or knowledge of possible
sources with us. Please note that this is not just a class assignment. but
an on-going project that we hope will be an interesting and informative
source of information for anyone who wants to learn more about forestry in
B.C.
