Troy brought up the ancient question of Algonquin/Algonkian/Algonquian
usage ... I hope someone like Rich Rhodes will give a clearly definitive
answer ... which is why I've waited a few days ... but I only have time to
scan the subject headers so I may have missed it.

This subject has been so misused over the decades that only a "pro" can
clarify it accurately .... but in the meantime, yes, there is a "family"
of tribes sometimes referred to as Algonquin because their language
base is Algonquin -- it includes many of the Eastern Woodland tribes PLU
the Wintu and Yurok of California (supposedly from the Eastern Woodlands
originally).

The only place I've seen "Algonkian" is in "Linguistics" texts.
