Comments from NativeNet listowner, Gary Trujillo (gst@gnosys.svle.ma.us):
I'm just concerned that with this many students asking this many questions
we have the potential to generate a higher volume of traffic on the list
than many people might be able to handle, especially given that there are
already many days when quite a lot of articles come through for the list.
I'd suggest that each person wanting to answer a question use her/his own
judgement. Just remember that replying to a message containing a NATIVE-L
article will send your article to the list and that if you want to send a
reply to the person asking the question, you'll need to manually send your
message to the address in the "Original Sender:" line. I think it would
be reasonable that we ask each student to provide us a summary some time
later of those responses that have been received and possibly something
about the conclusions s/he has come to as a result. In fact, we could
place such reports into special files in the "filelist" archives of the
list, so that anyone who wants to read these conclusions can just retrieve
those files. Maybe Franke and I can work things out so that all of us who
are interested can get the benefit of this educational experiment. If
anyone has any suggestions, please let Franke or I know. (My address is
"gst@gnosys.svle.ma.us" and Franke's is "upofh@gemini.oscs.montana.edu")
