Cherokee peoples & prophecies?

I am a student at St. Lawrence University enrolled in a Native American
Culture course. I have chosen to do some research on the Cherokee
Peoples. The extent of my research will cover the general overview
of the life of the Cherokee both before and after the advent of the
european people. My problem lies more in finding the material that
encompasses the history, whatever recoverable, from the time before
european intrusion.
I also need help in finding more material on the prophecies of the
Cherokee Peoples. I want to see if the prophecies had any connection
to the present day relations of Native People and their relations with
the u.s. I have a strong hunch that they did.
If anyone can be of assistance to me in this matter, I would greatly
appreciate it. Any materials or general knowledge will be much
appreciated. Thanks truly for your help in this matter.
