Christian A. Johnson Endeavor Foundation Native American Fellowship
The Christian A. Johnson Endeavor Foundation Native American
Fellowships are awarded annually on a competitive basis of merit and
financial need to American Indian students planning a career in
American Indian affairs.
The fellowships are funded by a grant from the Christian A. Johnson
Endeavor Foundation to the Harvard Project on American Indian
Economic Development. The late Mr. Johnson, a director of the
American Natural Gas Company, was a financier with interests in
education, medical research, youth development and free-enterprise
economics. The foundation, established by him in 1952 to foster
these interests, today supports educational projects and the arts and
humanities with primary funding going to the National Museum of the
American Indian. The donor's daughter, Mrs. Wilmot H. Kidd,
serves as president of the foundation.
