Salary: Grade 9 (Min $24,961, negotiable dependent upon training and
experience)

Position summary: This position is responsible for the overall development
and operation of the Oneida Arts Department to include the administration,
management, financing and delivery of art programs and services to
approximately 3,000+ tribal members within approximately a one hundred
square mile area. This is an exempt position and reports to the Area
Manager of Education and Training.

Qualifications include:
1. Bachelor's degree from an acredited School of the Arts in any one or
combination of Music, Fine Art, Sculpture, Dance/Drama or Arts
Administration

2. Two years previous experience as an Arts Administrator with the ability
to develop, manage and administer a diversified arts program to a large
rural community

3. Working knowledge of comprehensive Arts programs that will address the
interests of various ages, skills and needs of community members,
professionals, and visitors to the Oneida Nation

4. Extensive computer experience is strongly preferred to integrate
computerization into the development of the Arts Department

5. Excellent oral and written communication skills

6. Knowledge of the Oneida community including its history and culture

7. Must present a professional appearance and demeanor as a representative
of the Oneida Nation in dealing with the general public

8. Must be able to work effectively and efficiently under stressful
stituations due to reporting deadlines and multiple priorities

Duties and responsibilities include:
1. Supervise Oneida Arts Department and staff
2. Develop and implement formal arts instruction services and programs in
the areas of fine art, music, dance, drama, sculpture and creative writing
that will be easily accessible, timely and appropriate for tribal members
of all ages
3. Write grants/ proposals and develop a fundrising plan to operate the
department
4. Develop and "Artist in residence Program" and assist in the development
of an Performing Arts Center

note: Candidates who are not enrolled Oneida Tribal members must be
willing to enter into an Employee Contract for a two year period and accept
the additional job responsibility of Trainer to and enrolled Tribal member
as the Arts Department director
