Mr. Bruner, it is a shame you are not as quick with helpful advice as
you are with unknowledgable criticisms and ramblings. The Cherokee Observer
just joined the net, and as was obvious to most people, was having computer
problems, as you yourself pointed out was probably the case.
The article printed was a news article--not personal opionions. I
[Linda Summerfield, Health Editor-aka "gopher" :}] have responded personally
to you, right after we publicly received your "flaming". Why you would need
to keep posting the same flames over and over again makes one wonder--WHAT
IS YOUR PERSONAL AGENDA? Are you Cherokee? Are you currently informed
about Cherokee news and headlines (apparently not).
The "motives" of the Cherokee Observer are to keep Cherokee people
informed of the true current events. Not "canned news" as most usually
government released new is. If you lived back here in Cherokee Nation, or
even were in touch with real Cherokees---you would know these are the
headlines in not only the Cherokee Observer, but many local mainstream
newspapers.
I noticed that some of the details you complained were "left out" of
the article, you yourself pulled up and reprinted in your response. Perhaps
you were too hasty in reading it.
I am sorry that you want to criticize an independent bi-lingual
Cherokee newspaper- probably having never seen a copy-and evidently not
being aware of the issues of concern to most Cherokees. You probably are
not aware that we also have Cherokee culture and history, Cherokee language
lessons, and much more in our paper.
Since we are a volunteer, independent Cherokee newspaper, I have been
assigned the duty of posting news releases, and answering communications.
Again, I apoligize for the number of times our computer posted our first
articles--but NEVER FOR THE CONTENT. The Cherokee people have been treated
like mushrooms for too long (kept in the dark, and fed fertilizer)---The
Cherokee Observer brings light! How can Cherokee people intelligently
discuss the issues facing them if they know nothing about them, or only hear
one side (the government's) of the story. WE DON'T CREATE THE NEWS, WE ONLY
REPORT IT.
Have a good day,
Linda

OBVIOUSLY-YOU ARE CORRECT-not only did our computer keep telling us the article had not been posted, but we are experiencing difficulties in the connection with our service center.

Again, do you have no mercy for "newbies" experiencing difficulty/

We responded personally to your "flame", but will again respond. Are you Cherokee? Are you in touch with real Cherokees, or with the current issues? WE DO NOT CREATE THE NEWS, WE ONLY REPORT IT. Not only were there duplicate posting errors with our first postings, but apparently deletions of some portions of the articles. We appreciate all those that personally contacted us with computer/internet advice, and with appreciation for the truthfulness in the content of our articles. Headlines are breaking almost every day back here in Cherokee Nation with all the investigations going on. We will continue to report it, along with the many local area mainstream newspapers. Hope you have a good day, Linda
