Laurie: I doubt that your student has missed it, but just in case, be
sure to have her read Marano, Lou 1982 Windigo Psychosis: The Anatomy of
an Emic-Etic Confusion. Current Anthropology 23:385-397. Despite the
real importance of this belief, there are no known cases of anybody
actually suffering from the actual psychosis (contra vampires and such).
