UPDATED AMERICAN INDIAN REFERENCE BOOK AVAILABLE SOON
The Economic Development Administration (EDA) of the U.S. Department
of Commerce will soon have available a new book entitled "American
Indian Reservation and Trust Areas." The 700-page reference book
covers over 500 Indian reservations in 36 states. The book provides
comprehensive information concerning the reservations, including
size, demographics, culture, history, government, economy, and
community facilities. This is the first update of the popular book
entitled "Federal and State Indian Reservations and Indian Trust
Areas" published 21 years ago.
In the next few months when the book is available, EDA will send a
copy AUTOMATICALLY at no charge to the following organizations: American
Indian Tribes, Indian Community Colleges, Federal Agencies, Economic
Development Districts, the U.S. House and Senate, State Rural Development
Councils, Governor's Offices, and state departments of economic development.
Others may order a free copy by sending an e-mail message with their names
and addresses to mleydicb@doc.gov or calling the Economic Development
Administration at 202-482-2127. The same book is being marketed privately
under the name of "Tiller's Guide to Indian Country" for $59.95 plus $6.00
postage.
