Thank you, Helen for addressing the matter of a Cherokee reservation in
Florida. I hadn't gotten around to it yet. The Cherokee occupied a four
corners area - where Alabama, Georgia, Tennessee, and North Carolina
intersect prior to removal to northeastern Oklahoma. There are now two
large groups of Cherokee - the Eastern Band in North Carolina and the
Western Cherokee Nation in Oklahoma (of which I am a member). There are
Cherokee scattered outside these areas. But there is no rez in Florida.
If you suspect you have Cherokee relatives there, then you should try to
trace to the Eastern Band and those rolls - I doubt the Oklahoma ones
would be of much help.
