Wordcraft Conference in D-FW Area

The Tribal American Network (TAN) announces a regional Wordcraft Circle
Conference entitled "Celebrating Our Heritage in the Spirit of the
Circle" scheduled during National American Indian Heritage Month. The
conference is to be conducted in Dallas, Texas at Mountain View college,
4849 W. Illinois on November 16-18, 1995. Registration fees are: $50
for the entire conference, $25 per day or $15 per session, college
students $10 with ID and high school students are free. Send fee to:

Wordcraft Circle is a national Circle comprised of professional and
amateur writers and storytellers who are tribal citizens from all
directions. This includes people like Joy Harjo, Rayna Green, Robert
Conley, Gayle Ross, Vine Deloria, Scott Momaday, Dr. Lee Francis and many
others. Their mission is to support each other and to develop a greater
interest among aspiring tribal adults and youth.

The conference will provide a forum for established writers and
storytellers to share their expertise in becoming professionals with
those who are striving to develop their knowledge and skills. Dr. Lee
Francis (Laguna), Director of National Wordcraft Circles, Mr. Robert
Conley, professional and renown Cherokee writer and Ms. Gayle Ross,
professional storyteller and writer will be sharing their experiences
with conference participants along with other local professionals. Each
session will assist participants to gain insight into tribal history,
language and culture. They will also assist participants to understand
how tribal traditions mold the thinking patterns which tribal people use
in oral and written communications. Professional educators will
immensely benefit through the lectures, published works and interaction
of other participants and the facilitators.

Indian Education Programs of Dallas & Grand Prairie, Mountain View
College, Dallas Morning News, VIP Publishing Co., and the Greater Dallas
American Indian Business Council.
