The writing contest will be restricted to poetry and short stories (250
words or less) on the personal tribal heritage (history, language and
culture). The submitted work will be judged by professional judges and
winners will be recognized on Saturday November 18. Roecognition will be
given to two contestants from each grade 9th - 12th. A grand prize will
be awarded to one contestant in the form of a scholarship for a high
school junior or senior who will be pursuing a degree in communications
or an undergraduate student who is already enrolled in a communications
degree studies. Their name/works will be either published or mentioned
in the Dallas Morning News, Moccasin Telegraph newspaper, Dream Weaver
and other national Indian newspapers. Potential contestants should
