My name is Amy White, I'm a fourth year Natives Studies major here at Trent
University. Along with two others, I co-chair the Native Student
organization here at Trent.
One of the activities our group is planning for, is to develop a "First
Nations Music" radio show here at Trent radio. I've planned to send a
letter to First Nations Music requesting the assistance of your company
in sending demos to our group. However, when I saw your e-mail account
posted, I thought I'd take the time now, to put in the request on behalf of
the planning group for the "First Nation Music" show.
There are Native artists in dire need of some recognition, and hopefully one
of the avenues that our radio show can bring about is the promotion of Native
musician awareness to the Peterborough and surrounding community.
I am requesting that First Nations Music assist we, the students in
becoming that avenue for Native musical awareness by sending us some demos
from Native artists that your company has released.
Also, in reading your list, I've noticed that there was no mention of the
"Seventh Fire" band. This band is quite well known amongst the younger crowd,
as they offer an alternative to folk or country Native music, which
contemporary music seems to need these days, I've understood them to be
under your label, is this correct? If so, then why were they not mentioned
in your e-mail ad?
I would appreciate a response to at your earliest convenience, and all
thanks go out to you for your time in reading this request,
Amy White
