My name is Erika Beckman and I am taking a class here at LeMoyne College in
Syracuse, NY called Museums and Social Science. Next Monday I am
presenting a seminar on reburial. This topic focuses on whether or not
artifacts in museums should be returned to native peoples or not. My
opinion is that the natives should allow people to obtain the artifacts in
order that they can be studied, but if those people want them back, they
should be immediately returned. If the objects are of any value to that
native person, they should be returned. I know that if someone had
something of mine and it was important to me, I would hope that they would
return it without any big fight. I hope that my input will be of some
help.
