Here's some information I received in a leaflet format about the
organisation that will actually be of some help to someone!!
The National Environmental Coalition of Native Americans (NECONA) is
a non-profit educational organisation whose primary focus is
opposition of the establishment of nuclear waste dumps on Indian
land. It also works to establish nuclear free zones and to educate
tribal members about the health hazards of radioactivity. It was
established in 1993 by Native environmentalists in response to
proposals to place nuclear waste on INdian lands and has been very
sucessful under the leadership of Gract Thorpe. I actually posted a
request about NECONA and Grace Thorpe some time ago to natchat and
when I got hold of their address from someone and email they've been
very helpful in sending bits and pieces of information and so on.
