This one is off topic, I suppose. But I have heard many stories among the
Ahtna folks about the miners/explorers who died of scurvy on the Copper
River trails, laughing to the last at the Indians drinking that spruce bark
tea that tasted like turpentine, loaded as it is with vitamin C.

Or my friends the Dena'ina chewing willow for toothache.

Ah yes, lo the dumb Indian.
