Christmas Day, at 2:00 pm, a very lovely 103 year old Cherokee elder
by the name of Lovey Lightfoot, passed on. She had been residing at
the Regency Arms Retirement Home in Titusville, Florida for over two
years. Miss Lovey was very active and extremely mentally alert. She
was, and is, an inspiration to many non-Natives, as well as Native
Americans.
Miss Lovey's family has asked me to perform a memorial ceremony in
the Cherokee tradition. I am Chickasaw and know little to nothing
about the Cherokee passing or memorial ceremonies. If anyone can
assist me, please e-mail or call me at your earliest possibility.
