[ Please see my note at the end of this article. --Gary ]

Hello to everyone. My name is Mary Z. Hawkins and I am a new subscriber to
this list. I am a visionary artist who has been painting angels since 1993,
a writer and producer of a newsletter for visionary artists. I am originally
from Tonawanda, NY (just north of Buffalo) and have been living in Richmond
VA since 1980. About six months I formed an artists organization called the
Network of Visionary Artists (NOVA for short). We are preparing to put on
our first exhibition, "Peace as a Field of Consciousness." We will hold
quarterly exhibitions at a commercial space that will be called the Fusion
Center. Additionally, we will be operating on-going 'angelic displays.'
These will offer the works of many visionary artists, musicians, photogra-
phers, craftspeople and creative others who create from Spirit. In addition
to angel-related products, we will offer many products created from Spirit.
I envision that we will have a 'Native American corner.' One of our offer-
ings will be "The Pow Wow Trail," a book by Julia White (meyna@ix.netcom.com)
and the Vision Quest portraits of visionary artist Diana Elizabeth Stanley,
who is a member of NOVA.

I am delighted to have found this group and look forward to hearing from you.
You can reach me at 103630.1611@compuserve.com. Mary

If anyone wants to reply to Mary, please reply to her address, indicated above
and recall that replying to the message from the TAMVM1 LISTSERV containing
this article will cause your message to go to the posting address for the list
itself.

As I see things, the subject of this article is tangential to the subject
matter of our mailing lists, since Mary's interest appears to be placing the
experience of indigenous peoples into the context of an artistic enterprise.
I don't mind people using NATIVE-L to introduce themselves to others who
might share their interests along these lines, but I do have qualms about
the list carrying such articles on a regular basis when there are important
matters about which to exchange information that relate directly to the
life experiences of indigenous peoples.

I welcome whatever comments people would like to send my way on this matter
by means of a message to my address ("gst@gnosys.svle.ma.us"). Thanks.
