Abenaki Nation requests suggestions

The Abenaki Nation of Vermont is in the process of developing proposals for
several projects, and we were wondering if some of you out there could give
us some suggestions on the following topics:

1. Parks and national property: Is there an program that allows tribes to
regain control of, or manage, parks and federal land? We have a federal
wildlife refuge nearby.

2. Any organization (law firm, nonprofit, or school) that offers training in
Indian law. We would like to train several of our people as paralegals, and
get them some training in Indian Law; we have lawyers, but they know nothing
about it.

3. We are working on our application for federal recognition, and doing some
archiving. What are good places for funding for this process? What have
been people's/tribes' experiences with the process?
