Cultural Director
This person will oversee the team-oriented development and
implementation of a culture-based curriculum for the Indian
Community School of Milwaukee, Inc. Individual will also provide
ongoing direction to the culture staff, and must then exemplify the
values and behaviors of respect, calm and dignity inherent in
Native American traditional cultures. We are seeking an individual
committed to ensuring the finest educational experience possible
for an urban Native American population of chilfren. This
individual must be: comfortable working in a bi-cultural setting;
a clear, healthy communicator; and able to supervise staff of
diverse backgrounds. Ideal candidate has experience in developing
K-8 educational curriculum that has a Native American cultural
base. Must be creative and well versed in both dominant and Native
cultural approaches to education of children. Strong writing
skills essential. Helpful to have working knowledge and
understanding of commonalities among Native cultures, especially
for tribes located within Wisconsin. B.A. in Education or related
area a must. Master's Degree preferred. Native American
