Application for a work experience in an environmental
organisation
I am Julia, a nineteen-year-old girl from Hamburg. In
summer 1996 I will have finished school with a final
examination called Abitur. Before studying at the
university I would like to get practical experience by
working with an environmental organisation or helping in
an ecological project.
Two years ago I lived in London for 3.5 months, improving
my English on a public college. I passed the Cambridge
First Certificate with Grade A and will take the Advanced
Certificate in spring 1996.
I learnt Latin for 7 years at school and have got the Big
Latinum. Moreover I have been intensively studying
Russian for 5 years as well as Spanish for one year.
I am very interested in geography, that I am taking as an
advanced-level-course (so as Russian). Moreover I like
biology, especially ecology an ethnology. I am mostly
faszinated by indigenous tribes living in South America,
so as in the rainforests.
In summer 1995 I got much new information about the
situation in rainforest areas by a work experience at
"Rettet den Regenwald e.V." in Hamburg. Working with this
organisation for two weeks I realized that it is my wish
to engage in ecological, social and cultural problems of
native tribes and poor people in the Third World.
Concerning this field I prefer to work in a more
practical way like meeting other organisations or even
visiting a project in a certain area.
I also have some typing and computer experience.
In the last years I have been engaged in the ecology
movement, for example the nature-conservation-youth.
We do practical work directly in nature as well as
enlightment in public.
Having finished school I want to deepen my engagement for
ecological and social problems, especially in the Third
World.
Therefore I am searching for an organisation to work with
for some months starting from summer 1996 or from the
beginning of 1997.
I am prepared to pay for accomodation and maintenance
myself.
