The older I get it seems that the same story repeats itself over and over.
There seems to be so much mismanagement then mistrust of our Tribal
governments. Can anyone out there show me one tribal government that is
operating without controversy-and also for their people? I've become very
curious lately as to what kind of management consultation is available to
tribal goverenments. Many times the "elected" Presidents/Chairpersons/Chiefs
whatever, have no management backgrounds. Too often there are the stories
of mismanagement of millions of dollars... and then we all know who
suffer.
Is there any organization, group that is utilized to assist tribes with
management?--And I don't mean the feds. I believe our tribal governments
operate too much like communist states at this time. -It seems that too
many people end up hurt when they try to stand up to tribal governments when
there seems to be corruption allegations. Gestapo ring a bell? And as usual
Tribal governments seem to employ family and friends resulting in more
mistrust.
I believe that if there were better management of our tribal
governments, then alot of internal strife would be decreased. At present,
if there is bribery, corruption, and stealing from a tribal government, how
is one person to challenge it? Anyways, I was just wondering. I've been to
so many different reservations and the stories are the same over and over:
The Tribe is corrupt and the people that run it are taking the
money....There is such an air of pessimism. If someone knows of a
consultant group or if something like that exists, let me know.
