TO THE PEOPLE OF MEXICO
TO THE PEOPLE AND GOVERNMENTS OF THE WORLD
TO THE NATIONAL AND INTERNATIONAL PRESS
BROTHERS AND SISTERS:
The Indigenous Clandestine Revolutionary Committee-General Command of the
EZLN states its thoughts over the lates national events.
Considering:
That the most recent revelations over the criminal activities of
Mr. Carlos Salinas de Gortari and Mr. Raul Salinas de Gortari confirm the
justice in the demands of the EZLN put forward since January 1, 1994.
That the EZLN rose up in arms against the supreme government for
democracy, liberty and justice for all Mexicans.
That the system of party-state, masked as a dictatorship, is what
promotes, encourages and hides the organized crime that becomes
government with the claw of corruption, deceitfulness and fraud to
popular will.
It is resolved:
First. To demand for a historic lawsuit against Carlos Salinas de
Gortri for the following crimes:
Treason to the nation concentrated in the signing, turning its back to
the nation, of the North American Free Trade Agreement (NAFTA) and
concluded that the selling of the rich national resources to foreign
capital, the embarrassing negation of the national history and giving-
away of the future of Mexicans to owners without a country nor laws other
than that of money and gain.
Ethnocide against the original inhabitants of the Mexican lands who were
massacred by a criminal economic program that drives to death dozens of
thousands of indigenous peole
For the crimes of war committed during the conflict that began on
January 1st of 1994 and that involved the imprisonment, the disappearing,
rape, torture and execution against the indigenous people of Chiapas up
in arms with the right granted by article 39 of the Political
Constitution of the United Mexican States.
For the violation of popular will committed on July 6, 1988, when
the majority of the people of Mexico manifested by legal and pacific
means, for a change toward democracy, liberty and justice. This popular
will was violated by Mr. Carlos Salinas de Gortari and his accomplices in
order to gain power.
Second: To demand an investigation of those who wer his accomplices
yesterday and today hide behind the historical amnesia. Among his
accomplices are:
-Carlos Castillo Peraza and Diego Fernandez de Cevallos, from the
National ACtion Party, accomplices with Mr. Salinas to defraud popular
will and impose on the country an economic model known as neoliberalism
that has the country immersed in misery and unhopefulness for the
majority of Mexican people.
-Girolamo Prigione and Joseph Marie Cordoba Montoya, foreigners
who have not stopped meddling in national affairs, accomplices with Mr.
Salinas de Gortari, sold the country to foreigners, mortgaged the future
of all Mexicans, extended his arms to drug-trafficking and bought the
eclesiastic blessing for the criminal system we suffer with today.
-Eduardo Robledo Rincon and Julio Cesar Ruiz Ferro, who usurped
the government of Chiapas, accomplices with whom Mr. Carlos Salinas de
Gortari stoled the nations moeny, dispossed the people of Chiapas of
their right to govern and to govern themselves, and are who head the
dirty war agaisnt the civil society of Chiapas.
-Absalon Castellanos Dominguez, Patrocinio Gonzalez Garrido and
Elmar Setzar M., ex-viceroyals of Chiapas, accomplices with whom Salinas
persecuted, imprisoned, raped, tortured, assasinated, and dissapeared
thousands of Chiapanecos whose only crime was to fight for their rights.
Third: Mr. Carlos Salinas de Gortari and his accomplices are directly
responsible for the war in Mexico. Their actions and omissions forced
the indigenous people of the Mexican southeast to rise in arms in order
to be heard. Mr. Carlos Salinas de Gortari must present himself before
the Mexican people in order to pay for his crimes.
The EZLN calls the people of Mexico to materialize in
mobilizations the national sentiment demanding justice and truth.
DEMOCRACY!
LIBERTY!
JUSTICE!
