HARVARD UNIVERSITY

Department of Organismic and Evolutionary Biology

Summer Research Fellowship Program for
Minority Undergraduates

Graduate Studies in Organismic and Evolutionary Biology

The Department of Organismic and Evolutionary Biology invites applications
from minority college students to its Graduate Program and to its Summer
Research Fellowship Program for Minority Undergraduates.

OEB Faculty conduct research in ecology, genetics, behavior, physiology,
paleontology, marine biology, biological oceanography, population biology,
molecular evolution, functional morphology, and plant and animal
systematics.

The Summer Minority Undergraduate Research Fellowship Program focuses on
college sophomores, juniors and seniors from under-represented cultural
groups. The goal of the program is to increase cultural diversity among
scientists in the future. Students selected for the program spend eight
weeks, from mid-June to mid-August, on the Harvard campus doing laboratory
research. Stipends, room, and board are available to all accepted
students. The application deadline is March 15.

The Graduate Program has a diverse student body of women and men advised by
faculty members who share a primary commitment to train scientists pursuing
a greater understanding of the evolution of the earth's life processes.
Modern research facilities, combined with the natural history collections
and libraries of the Harvard University Herbaria and the Museum of
Comparative Zoology, provide unique opportunities for meeting the
challenges inherent in this pursuit. Financial aid is available to all
accepted students. The application deadline is December 15.
