Position Announcement

EXECUTIVE DIRECTOR
Intertribal Transportation Association

The Executive Committee of the Intertribal Transportation Association is
seeking an executive director to manage its organization in Albuquerque, New
Mexico. ITA is a nonprofit corporation whose mission is to promote Indian
transportation programs. The duties and responsibilities of the position
include management and oversight of organizational operations; planning;
supervision of personnel; budget preparation; fund-raising; preparation of
reports, position papers, proposals, resolutions, policy statements and
other program documents; representation of the organization at national
meetings and conferences; and coordination of Indian nation involvement in
national, state and tribal transportation programs.

The education and experience required for the position include possession of
a bachelor's degree in management, public administration, civil engineering,
or a related field, plus ten years of progressive experience with American
Indian government or organizations, or the substantial equivalent in
education and experience to perform the duties of the position.

Applicant must have a good working knowledge of federal transportation laws;
the Indian Reservation Roads (IRR) program; Public Law 93-638; ISTEA and
related federal and state transportation regulations and policies. Strong
oral and written communication skills are required, along with a good
working knowledge of tribal transportation infrastructure and related
programs. The position requires extensive travel and computer knowledge.
Salary is negotiable.
