Buffalo Soldiers

Greetings:

My name is Wesley J. P. Westphal II, Chickasaw, President of the
American Indian Association of Florida, Inc., and work for the Department
of Defense at Patrick AFB as the Native American Program Manager and as an
Environmental Protection Specialist.

Today, the Department of Defense's Defense Equal Opportunity Management
Institute, located at Patrick AFB, contacted me to be a guest speaker on
February 20, 1996 (13 days away) to present the Native American perspective
of the U. S. Calvary's Buffalo Soldiers.

Well, I asked if they wanted to hear the perspective from Katz's
"Black American" or the "Buffalo Soldiers" point of view (which is very one
sided). The Institute (DEOMI) stated they wanted to hear the "real"
Native American side, even if it bent some individual's noses out of
joint.

So, I am requesting information from anyone and everyone out there
whose tribe had contact with the Buffalo Soldiers. If you could, fax the
information to me at (407) 984-4356 as time is drawing rather close. I
have been given 45 minutes to make my presentation, so the more information
I receive, the more in-depth, thorough and accurate I can present the Native
American point of view.

I am requesting fax'd information so I may have "hard copy" to write
my presentation from. If you can not give me fax'd information, then the
e-mail can be handled (warrior@digital.net).

Thank you for your help.
