TLAHTOKAN AZTLAN

A call goes out for a reunion of the Pueblos Libres de Aztlan for March
16-17, 1996 in Izkalotlan, Aztlan (Phoenix). This meeting will focus on
our relationship with the Indigenous Autonomous Regions of Mexico and the
continent. It is very important that our indigenous autonomy, as the
genesis of all rights, be recognized as the foundation for self-
determination for the indigenous peoples of this continent. All across
the continent and particularly in Mexico, the movement for Indigenous
Autonomy is on the rise. It is a defining movement for the Xicano
Mexicano Nation. Autonomy is vital in order to live under our own laws
and traditions. There will be representatives of the General Council of
Indigenous Autonomous Regions of Chiapas. We will also discuss relations
of the Indigenous Peoples Alliance (IPA) and the Council of Indigenous
Nations and Organizations of the Continent (CONIC), indigenous free trade,
and other matters vital to maintain our autonomy as native indigenous
nations.
