verdicts on leech lake insurance fraud case

State Sen. Harold "Skip" Finn has been found guilty on 12 of the 22 felony
counts he faced in federal court.

He was accused in a scheme to steal more than $1 million from the Leech
Lake Chippewa band.

A U.S. District Court jury deliberated six days before finding Finn guilty
on 12 felony counts and innocent on 10 other counts, Eric reported. Along
with Finn, Leech Lake tribal leaders Alfred Pemberton and Daniel Brown
were also found guilty of trying of steal the money from a tribal
self-insurance fund that Finn, as a lawyer for the band had managed.
