Through a network of which I am a member in Australia I received advice
of your message concerning the taking of Aboriginal children from their
parents. Similarly I have been reading with concern and interest the
dialogue and information about the IWCA Amendment.

I have provided info below about a transcript of a program called
"Missing" which was broadcast on a recent Australia radio station
program. "Missing" explores some of the issues in relation to the
taking of Aboriginal children away from their families right throughout
this century.

People can access the transrcipt through our national broadcaster's net
page which can be found at:

http://www.abc.net.au

for general information and transcripts of radio and television programs
or by going directly to the following www site:

http://www.abc.net.au/rn/talks/bbing/bb960211.htm

The transcript is of a radio program in the series Background Briefing
which is broadcast over Radio National.

I hope that some of your readers will find this transcript of the program
helpful.

Comments from NativeNet listowner, Gary Trujillo (gst@gnosys.svle.ma.us):

This article comes as a response to a solicitation I made recently of a
number of people in Australia who I thought might have some information
on this subject. There has been some information posted on NATIVE-L over
the past several years on this subject, which I have assembled into an
index that you can access via:

http://bioc09.uthscsa.edu/natnet/archive/nl/oz-children.html

Also, there was a radio documentary broadcast on National Public Radio in
the United States, produced by "Soundprint," called "For the Love of Your
Own Mother." For more information about the Soundprint series, please see
their Web page at "http://www.soundprint.org/"
