An interesting sidelight on this topic: In a somewhat unusual move, the
Fargo _Forum_ has been publishing profiles of each of the ten candidates
running for the White Earth tribal chairmanship. Although I don't know
enough about the individuals running or the situation on White Earth to make
any judgments about the paper's accuracy or appropriateness in their
stories, just the mere presence of these stories strikes me as a very good
step forward from their usual focus on stories about controversy on local
reservations. FWIW--
