Greetings:

The Freedom Run for Leonard Peltier and All Indigenous People
came through Prague last week. Indigenous Delegates met with
Jana Chalupova (Havel's Human Rights spokesperson) and with
the Advisor to the Ministry of the Environment. Both signed
the Petition, as private citizens, as have several members of
Parliament so far.

Although it must be stressed that these signatures are NOT
official, the very fact that the government here has taken
some notice of Peltier is encouraging. We are still working
towards official signatures. It must also be noted that here
in Czech Republic, an official signing such a petition as a
citizen is actually a stronger statement to Czech people.
Before the revolution, anyone who signed a protest as an official
was instantly protected by their official status. To sign as
a private citizen was far more dangerous.

Thanks to all those who sent mail enquiring about the Run.
Unfortunately, I was out of the office all last week and could
not answer in time. I will however, be replying personally to
all during this week.

We would also be very interested in communicating with other
LPSG's, especially in Europe.

Yours in peace,
Stevienna de Saille
